Guangzhou International Bio Island Investment & Development Co., Ltd was converted into a wholly owned subsidiary of Industrial Development Group Co., Ltd of Guangzhou Development District in 2013.

In 2011,Guangzhou International Bio Island was inaugurated and the first batch of companies signed investment contract.
In 2008, Guangzhou International Bio Island was listed in the Reform and Development Plan of the Pearl River Delta, officially recognized as the national strategic program and key development program of Guangzhou province and Guangzhou city.

In 2006,Guangzhou International Bio Island was recognized as a National Biotech Industry Base by National Development and Reform Commission, being the first batch of International Biotech Industry Bases.
In 2001, Guangzhou Development District Administrative Committee was designated to take charge of the development of Bio Island.

In 2000, the project "Guangzhou International Bio Island" was officially approved by National Planning Commission.
In 1999, Guangzhou municipal government raised the ideal of developing an international biotech research and development cluster.
